The Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team are seeking to recruit 2 Assistant Psychologists to join the team. This is an exciting time to join the team as we are expanding in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.

We are a friendly team who place the 6C's at the centre of our work and who value professional training and development.

The Assistant Psychologists will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service, across all sectors of care; provide psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional Psychologist, work independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified Psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. The Assistant Psychologists will also assist in clinically related administration, conduct audits, collect statistics, and develop audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

The Specialist Perinatal Team cover the entire CWP geographical patch, therefore, ability and willingness to travel is essential. Our "hub" base is in Ellesmere Port and we have a "spoke" base in Macclesfield but there will be requirements at times to travel across the CWP footprint.

Main duties of the job

Assistant Psychologists in the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team undertake protocol based psychological assessments of clients applying psychological tests, self report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and and others involved in the client's care.

You will assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client's problems. under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist. You will assist in the co-ordination and running of therapeutic groups, attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings and develop and maintain a treatment database.

You will receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.

  • Good honours degree in Psychology (2.i or above). Eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS
  • To undertake breakaway training or equivalent following appointment.

Desirable

  • Advanced keyboard skills
  • Other related academic qualifications to Masters or Doctorate level

Knowledge

  • The ability to communicate complex/ sensitive information where barriers to understanding exist. For example, instances requiring empathy and reassurance.
