Job summary

We are excited to announce an innovative new psychological leadership post within Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and highly skilled psychologist who is an exceptional leader, motivated to promote high quality psychological ways of thinking across the whole organisation and develop all aspects of the psychological professions within the Trust. You will join a pro-active senior leadership team and organisation, which truly believes in multi-disciplinary team working at all levels to bring about the best outcomes for our services users, carers and communities that we serve.

The Professional Lead will be responsible for professional psychological practice and quality across the Trust to ensure excellence in patient experience. Working in partnership with key stakeholders they will provide and enable excellent professional leadership, inclusive of continuous quality improvement of psychological services and practice development, The Professional Lead will act as the Trust's Chief Psychological Profession's Officer (CPPO) and approach the role from a strong position of evidence-based practice. They will take a strategic Trust-wide perspective as well as contributing to system-wide strategic conversations; working closely with the Trust Senior Management Team, and Health and Local Authority Commissioners and informed by psychological practitioners and experts by experience.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the senior leadership team to ensure delivery of first class psychologically informed services. You will play a key role in the quality of services and contribute to Care Group Professional Leadership and Trust Wide Senior Leadership meetings on a regular basis. You will also be a key advocate and enabler of the Quality Improvement approach to services across the Care Groups/Trust Wide as well as promoting a responsive approach to supporting psychology staff.

CWP's Mental Health services comprise Older and Younger adults, Urgent/Acute Care Psychology Services, Children and Young People's Mental Health and Learning Disability / Autism Services, Neuro Developmental Disorders/Learning Disability and ABI Psychology Services, and Neighbourhood/Physical Health Psychology Services. You will be committed to maintaining a balance of expertise across modalities ensuring that there are clinicians within CWP with expertise across the main psychological intervention modalities. You will hold responsibility for the psychological interventions' strategy and governance across the Trust leading psychological therapists/clinical psychologists. You will have professional responsibility for all lead psychologists and psychological therapists. You will hold professional responsibility for the psychological therapies across care groups. As well as providing management, direct supervision and consultation you will hold a small specialist caseload of complex patients.

Essential

  • Good honours degree in psychology. Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology, (or equivalent for those trained before 1996) as accredited by the BPS including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological theories and lifespan development psychology.
  • HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist (clinical).

Desirable

  • Chartered status with the British Psychological Society and membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology or the Association of Clinical Psychologists
  • Management Qualification.
