This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Learning Disability service within Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The post is 0.5 with the Community Learning Disability Team and 0.5 atGreenwaysAssessment and Treatment Unitwhich was rated as Outstanding by CQC.

This post is suitable foreither anewly qualified Speech and Language Therapist, or a Speech and Language Therapist with more experienceand thepost will be appointed at either a band 5 or band 6 depending on your prior experience. If appointed at band 5,dedicatedsupportwill be provided to enable you to progressthrough your newly qualified competencies and theninto the band 6 role.

Main duties of the job

As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, this role is to work with adults with a learning disability as part of an enthusiastic and committed multidisciplinary team, taking referrals from both the local area but also specialist referrals from across the North West as part of the inpatient offer. You will provide evidence based speech and language therapy assessment, treatment and intervention to service users who have learning disability and communication and/ or eating and drinking difficulties. Dysphagia training is available.

The post holder will apply their competence in core speech and language therapy skills to the learning disability field. The caseload will include supporting people with learning disabilities who experience a wide range of communication difficultiesas part of an offer to provide holistic care.

You will work alongside more experiencedSLTs to consolidate and develop your skills. If completing your Newly Qualified Competencies, there will be dedicated time for this.

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
  • HPC Registered
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
