Job summary

This is an exciting new post for a Learning Disability Nurse or an ABA Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB) practitioner to work in the new Intensive Support Function across Cheshire.

The Cheshire Intensive Support Function will work with Children and Young People with a LD, autism or both (age 5-17 years), who present with behaviours that challenge, and mental health conditions. CWP hosts CANDDID , the Centre for Autism Neurodevelopmental disorders and Intellectual Disabilities, which carries out research education and training, and holds an annual international conference.

Main duties of the job

The Cheshire Intensive Support Function will work flexibly across the LD-CAMHS and CAMHS teams extending and enhancing the existing provision to be able to take on an intensive support function, allowing the wider resource to be accessed pro-actively at times of escalating need. There will be particular focus on supporting the fostering of skills and culture of working proactively with Children and Young People with autism especially in mainstream CAMHS, this aligns with the autism clinical priority in the NHS Long Term Plan.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
  • Current NMC or HCPC registration
  • The Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • An appropriate post-graduate qualification in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Positive Behavioural Support; or sufficient relevant experience of working within a PBS service or the PBS framework

Desirable

  • Degree in relevant subject.
  • Clinical supervision or mentorship qualification.
  • Relevant qualification in Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice.

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Knowledge of the wide range of statutory independent and third sector service provision for children with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism
  • Knowledge of other relevant local and national documents/drivers that affects practice
  • Good understanding of current strategies and policies in relation to learning disabilities

Experience
