Job summary

We are pleased to offer an exciting position to a suitably qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic Complex Needs Team. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills at Band 6 level while working in Chester, Ellesmere Port and beautiful surrounding Cheshire countryside. This 37.5 hours per week, full time position will involve working in the child development service for 3 days a week and in community clinics for 2 days a week, although this may vary depending on service need. The post will provide the successful candidate with experience of working with a range of ages in various settings.

As a service we:

  • Are split into three teams; Community and Early Years, Mainstream Schools and Colleges and Complex Needs and Dysphagia. This post would sit in the Complex Needs and Dysphagia team with links to the Community and Early Years team. You would have a key involvement working with the Team Leads to develop interventions and evidence based practice for children and young people.
  • Are excited about developing our service in line with RCSLT guidance, current research and by embracing changes in the profession such as the terminology around Developmental Language Disorder.

Various hours and locations are available so requests for part-time hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post involves working with children with additional needs, aged 0-5 years and their families. The post holder would be involved with the assessment of need and putting a plan of intervention in place, and we have a range of pathways on offer. The Therapist would join a strong team of Therapists and assistant practitioners from SALT, as well as being part of the health provision to the Child Development Service, and so a keen interest in multi-disciplinary working is required.

The clinic caseload will include children who present with varying speech, language and communication needs and will provide a basis to further develop skills in a wide range of clinical areas.
