Job summary
An opportunity has a risen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to help lead a forward thinking team . Ward 6 is a 22 bedded elderly ward, which has acutely ill patients , some of who have cognitive impairment. The role can be challenging but also very rewarding. You will receive appropriate training and support from the ward manager.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the management of the ward in the absence of the ward manager. You will be expected to take on the nurse in charge role ensuring that discharges are facilitated as soon as possible, have an oversight of poorly patients and ensuring observations are recorded on time using the nerve centre. Completion of ward audits and recording weekly/ monthly. Completing staff return to work interviews following sickness absences. Roster management including finalising shifts, recording and extending sickness. Escalation to ward manager or matron if any concerns regarding staff, patients, relatives.
