Sister/Charge Nurse

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 sister/charge nurse on the Stroke floor at Calderdale Royal Hospital. We are a bedded area that encompasses an 6 bedded HASU and 8 bedded ASU as well as a busy rehabilitation area.

We are a hardworking, motivated and friendly team. If successful you will be well supported by our nursing and therapy team have opportunities to participate in audits, incident reporting, roster creation, staff appraisals and coordinating the floor in the absence of the ward manager.

Main duties of the job

Coordination of shift and supporting junior colleagues

-Escalation to members of MDT

-Investigation of incidents and attendance at panel meetings, completion of Route cause Analysis (RCA)

- Roster creation and daily management e.g recording shifts

- Appraisals of junior staff

- Weekly and monthly audits

- Attendance management

  • To be responsible for providing the appropriate nursing evidence-based care of an allocated group of patients.
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team using resources efficiently.
  • To deliver quality care to patients and to supervise the working of the team during shifts.
  • To be competent in carrying out a variety of clinical procedures.
  • To ensure high standards of nursing care are given and maintained. Act when standards are not being upheld.
