Job summary
To lead the Calderdale and Huddersfield In-patient Dispensary Service and the Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Assistant Team, under the operational management of the Chief Pharmacy Technician.
Toprovide, maintain and develop In-patient Dispensary Services in accordance with the agreed safe systems of work to ensure an efficient and accurate dispensary service.
The post holder is responsible for:
- the operational management of the In-patient Dispensary service, managing the supply of pharmaceutical products to wards and departments, under the leadership of the Chief Pharmacy Technician
- Providing training and supervision of all grades of staff of the section, with clear allocation of duties
Main duties of the job
2.1 Main Tasks
- Support the Chief Technician in setting the strategic direction for the Technical Pharmacy Service
- Contribute to the development of the annual business plan and strategic planning for the Pharmacy Directorate
- Implement Trust policies in relation to the Technical Pharmacy Service
- Continually review the quality and standard of service provision through consultation with users of the Pharmacy Service and makes recommendations for improvement to the Chief Technician
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and records for the Pharmacy Service and medicines management
- Ensures efficient use of the drug budget by effective medicines management and stock control
- Ensure the appropriate stock control and storage of materials and safe maintenance of equipment used in the provision of the Pharmacy services
- Participates in weekend, public holidays and extended hours provision of pharmacy services
- Complies with Trust policies relating to security and patient confidentiality and to ensure that procedures are undertaken within safe systems of work and legislation
