Job summary
Post Post Description
The post holder will be involved in the following activities within the Aseptic Dispensing Unit:
The receipt and processing of product requests.
The receipt, checking and storage of pharmaceutical and related deliveries.
Routine disinfection of pharmaceuticals needed for the preparation of products. This involves using specialised disinfectants and a knowledge of the appropriate parts of Good Manufacturing Practice.
Product tray assembly for final product preparation.
The specialised cleaning of the Aseptic Dispensing Unit.
The post holder will receive training for the appropriate aseptic dispensing modules of NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy services.
This post requires a Disclosing & Barring Services (DBS) check.
Main duties of the job
Main Tasks
- Performs specialised cleaning of the facilities and equipment using the appropriate specialised disinfectants, in accordance with current standards of Good Manufacturing Practice
- Receives and processes orders of aseptic products within the unit.
3. Ensures sufficient stocks of goods and consumables are available and stored correctly at all times and appropriate records are kept.
4. Participates in the environmental monitoring of the unit in accordance with the on-going Quality Assurance programme.
5. Set up and assemble trays of medicinal components for final product preparation
6. To remove general, clinical and pharmaceutical waste to designated Trust disposal areas within the hospital
7. To check and unpack orders of medicines and consumables supplied daily from the Pharmacy store, and store them in the correct locations. Ensures any problems are reported to the Senior Technician
8. Participates in weekend, public holiday, out of hours and extended hours provision of pharmacy services
9. Complies with Trust policies relating to security and patient confidentiality and to ensure that procedures are undertaken within safe systems of work and legislation
