Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, self-motivated individual to join our clinical pharmacy team as our Advanced Pharmacist - Anaesthetics and Critical Care. You will work alongside our current postholder to provide a clinical pharmacy service to our intensive care units in line with National guidance. Therefore significant recent and relevant experience of providing a clinical pharmacy service to intensive care is expected.
You will also be responsible for providing directorate support to theatres, pain management team and anaesthetic activities, you may also be involved in regional level activity within Critical Care Network Forum
You will be strongly encouraged to come up with innovative ideas to improve the clinical service alongside increased medicines efficiency savings.
You will require excellent communication and leadership skills, and be comfortable collaborating with clinicians, managers, nurses and others to ensure that pharmaceutical care critically ill patients with a range of clinical conditions is safe and optimised. You will also be involved in training and teaching junior members of the pharmacy team alongside the wider MDT.
Line management experience would be beneficial, as you will be involved in the sickness management, appraisal and general line management responsibilities of our team of rotational band 7 staff.
Main duties of the job
You will be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have successfully completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or be able to demonstrate equivalent and transferrable experience. You will also be a registered non-medical prescriber.
Training and support will be given and a commitment to continuing professional development is essential.
The role will include on-call duties and participation in weekend working.
Applicants should have knowledge of therapeutics and medicine use and experience of audit, risk management and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff.
This role is critical to providing a high quality clinical service to patients. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to delegate effectively and to work as part of a team with a 'can do' positive attitude.
