We are looking to appoint a Bank Dr to support our Opthalmology Service.
This would require an element of flexibility to cover clinics or on calls when required.
The ability to investigate and manage a range of ophthalmology general, emergency and sub-speciality cases is essential.
Main duties of the job
This is a flexible working bank post to maintain the capacity of the Department to manage the volume of referrals into the Trust from an increasing geographical area.
Example of activity available:
o Emergency clinics
o General clinics
o Macular (inc RVO, DMO) reviewing clinics.
o Macular injection clinics
o Retina clinics.
o Laser clinics (YAG, PI, PRP) based on experience, qualification, and competency.
o Other sub - specialty clinics based on experience, qualification, and competency.
o Tier 1, on call provision.
This requires a flexible attitude to working practices, managing patients in partnership with other consultant colleagues and professional staff and making the best possible use of resources put at the disposal of the Department. This is likely to require negotiated changes of duties and time-tabled sessions from time to time. Cross-site working may be required.

CHFT has 2 main sites, Ophthalmology being based in Acre Mills Out-patients, Huddersfield and Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax.
The Trust is currently one of the most digitised NHS Trusts in the country having moved to Cerner Millennium Electronic Patient Records (EPR) in 2017. This makes us currently one of the most paper-light and digitised Ophthalmology Departments in the country, and our planned/on-going work will make us a national leader in this area.

- Must be able to demonstrate a varied level of sub-specialty clinical experience and competence in aspects of Ophthalmology
- Evidence of experience and training in assessing and treating patients in General Ophthalmology / emergency eye care clinics and on-call settings

- Evidence of experience and training in assessing and treating Medical retina patients
- Understanding current issues within Ophthalmology and the wider NHS
- Experience of undertaking IVI macular injections
- Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions
