Job summary
Exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, specialising in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Motility including medical and surgical management.
In-patient and out-patient services, Paeds surgery, ROP screening, clinical triage, supervision and training of junior staff including ACPs, AHPs and Nurses, Participation in further sub-specialty service development if desired.
Main duties of the job
This is a substantive post to maintain the capacity of the department to manage the volume of referrals into the Trust from an increasing geographical area. It is expected that the post-holder will have a sub-specialty interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Motility and be able to deliver on all degrees of disease management(including elective and acute surgery) as well as provide support, training and supervision for junior medical staff (inc. non-training grades), allied health professionals, ACPs and Ophthalmic Nurses.
The appointee will work with colleagues within the CHFT Ophthalmology department, Calderdale and Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Group and Local Optical Committee to deliver a comprehensive ophthalmic service to the population served by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust and, in particular, to patients referred to the Consultant.

- Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise
- Specialist registration for Ophthalmology (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK) but consideration will be given to applicants with relevant consultant level experience or trainees in a UK training scheme who are within 6 months of attaining specialist registration.
