Job summary
We are looking for an individual who is motivated and keen to learn. Good communication skills and ENT clinical skills are essential. You will be expected to work as part of the Consultant-led multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality patient care.
The appointee will be expected to provide support to the training and supervision of junior medical staff who work with them and will also be encouraged to attend the local teaching programme.
The appointee will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the ENT department. Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, the appointee will be expected to observe the Unit's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust.
Applicants must have 3 years postgraduate training, (or equivalent medical experience) a minimum of 2 years of which should be in ENT, and be able to demonstrate clinical competencies equivalent to ST3-ST5 level (although do not have to have completed a formal training post at ST 1 - 2 level or equivalent). Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council and hold a License to Practice. Postgraduate qualifications within the specialty are desirable.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for the continuing care of patients as designated by consultant staff.
- To participate in minor surgery and fast track clinics in the department
- To participate in audit within the department.
- To participate in the training of junior medical staff and other staff.
- To deputise for colleagues at an appropriate level.
- To carry out appropriate administrative duties in support of clinical commitments.
- Active participation in the Departments Teaching, Audit and Governance programmes.
- To keep up to date with Trust mandatory training requirements.
- Undergo annual appraisal & undertake appropriate professional activity commensurate with GMC revalidation requirements.
- Observe all responsibilities and carry out all duties, whether general to all employees or specific to the post, relating to health and safety in accordance with the Trust Departmental Safety Policies and any statutory requirements.
- Ensure confidentiality of information is preserved at all times, whether at or away from work.
- Carry out requirements within the duties under the Data Protection Act 1984.

The post holders will be expected to undertake sessions at both Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital, and be required to participate in the ENT on call service. Experience in Rhinology or Paediatric ENT Surgery would be an advantage, but applications are also welcome from those with a more general interest.
