Job summary

We are looking for an Band 2 Rehabilitation Assistant to join our In Patient Therapy Service to work alongside our team of Therapists and fellow support staff in the delivery of stroke hospital based interventions for patients receiving therapy interventions.

You must be willing to take part in therapy based competencies and have experience working in a health/social care setting

This role will involve working as part of a team and supporting activities that ensure the development of the team and the wider service.

We operate a 7 day working system which includes a requirement to participate in a weekend roster for which you would receive days off in the week. You must also be willing to work flexibly and contribute to the late cover working until 6pm on a rota basis.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

Essential

  • A basic understanding of the needs and issues concerning illness and disability.
  • Demonstrate an interest in working with individuals within the clinical remit of Inpatient Therapies
  • A basic understanding of rehabilitation with acutely unwell patients
  • Understanding the needs of the specific client group
  • Previous experience working in the health/social care setting

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the client group and evidence of related training
  • Experience of dealing with adults with complex needs and their carers
  • Experience of working in an inpatient/outpatient setting
  • Knowledge of Orthopaedic conditions

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Level 1 functional skills in literacy and numeracy or equivalent (GCSE 9-2 / A*-E)
  • Willing and able to participate in competency work based training programme

Desirable

  • Previous competency based training in relevant field
  • Basic food hygiene certificate
  • NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in relevant field - or working towards

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS

Essential

  • Ability to manage own time effectively and prioritise tasks appropriately
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviours
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to use initiative and be aware of limitations
  • Motivational skills
  • Previous experience working with and communicating with the public
