Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the Head and Neck /ENT team, this is a new role that is supporting the post covid ongoing ENT recovery work .

Applications are invited for an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant with head and neck and otolaryngology experience to join Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust alongside six other consultants and numerous Specialty Doctors, Registrars, Nurse Practitioners and Audiologists.

The is a full time, 10PA role consisting of outpatient clinics, operating lists,

The successful candidate will be working as an ENT Consultant concentrating on two week wait fast track patients and urgent suspected cancer patients , including operating on non-complex head and neck patients .whilst also supporting otolaryngology clinics including paediatrics and covering the Consultant on-call sessions supported by the Specialty Doctors and Registrars.

Additional activity includes, but is not limited to - virtual clinics, RAS clinics, (Referral Assessment Service), MDT meetings, validation and on-call

The Head and Neck Cancer/Thyroid service works as part of the tertiary group with Bradford and Leeds Hospitals where weekly MDTs take place and urgent activity referred to the tertiary partner. The applicant will be a core member of the MDT

An interest in transformation of services would be welcomed to support the GIRFT Further Faster workstream

Main duties of the job

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has comprehensive facilities for the diagnosis, care and treatment of ENT disease. The successful candidate will be expected to provide ENT services in conjunction with colleagues and will contribute to the development of ENT services.

The trust is committed to changes in theatre timetabling to encourage more efficient use of resources, and is actively looking to pursue the provision of evening and weekend sessions as part of routine working.

The post requires a flexible attitude to working practices, managing patients in partnership with other consultant colleagues and professional staff, and making the best possible use of resources put at the disposal of the department. This may require negotiated changes of duties and time-tabled sessions from time to time. All Consultants have a responsibility to liaise with their colleagues in order to co-ordinate their individual activities to ensure the clinical service operates effectively and effectively.

The post holder will have 1.5 SPAs allocated in the first instance; of this 1.5 SPA, 0.5 SPA will be flexible in the job plan.

Post-holders who wish to undertake and develop an ENT research portfolio will negotiate reasonable SPA time to enable research development.

An interest in transformation of services would be welcomed to support the GIRFT Further Faster workstream
