Job summary
This role will be to support the Head of Cardiac and Respiratory Physiology Services, General Manager for Medical Specialties and the Clinical Physiologist Service Leads within the Cardio-Respiratory Department in the operational management and delivery of the Advanced Echocardiography Service, being an integral part of the core team for the department.
The post holder will develop, lead, and manage the Advanced Echocardiography service. They will directly oversee and clinically lead physiologists and trainee physiologists working in Advanced Echocardiography and will develop the CHD Echocardiography service. The post will include staff PDR, CPD, and will be responsible for leading, delivering, developing, and evaluating these services.
We have ever expanding services including, specialist Oncology, Valve clinics, Heart Failure clinics, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography, Transoesophageal Echo, Bubble and LV contrast sessions, with scope to further develop services in particular CHD.
The post holder will work across Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust at Calderdale Royal Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and community hubs if required. The post-holder is expected to maintain post-graduate accreditation in BSE and to be present at departmental, Trust-wide meetings, meetings regionally, and nationally as required. The post-holder will also perform CHD echocardiography to assist the CHD service.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for delivery of a high quality and efficient Advanced Echocardiography service for all users including patients, staff, clinicians within and external to the Trust and GPs.
- To work independently at a highly specialist level in Advanced Echocardiography and CHD Echocardiography and must have BSE Accreditation.
- To take a leading role in the development of Advanced Echocardiography and CHD Echocardiography services.
- In conjunction with the Head of Cardiac and Respiratory Physiology Services, General Manager of Medical Specialties and Clinical Physiologist Service Leads demonstrate clear leadership of the department, implementing comprehensible policies and protocols to support this.
- To ensure Advanced Echocardiography performance targets are maintained and that performance reports are delivered on a monthly basis.
- To keep up to date with on-going national and international developments and implement service redesign to ensure that the Trust is at the forefront of clinical developments.

- EACVI Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography or BSE Congenital (CHD) Accreditation or a willingness to work towards CHD Accreditation once in post
