Job summary
We are advertising for a six month vacancy for a Trust Doctor at the registrar (ST3+) level at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. It is intended that the candidate will commence immediately and will be in post till the end of September 2023. The post will provide experience in Trauma and in one or more subspecialty of elective orthopaedics.
Although not a recognised training post, there are considerable training and educational opportunities for the successful candidate. There is a comprehensive induction and regular weekly teaching with the intention that the service commitment, supervision level and educational opportunities will be equivalent to that of our existing trainees and is equivalent to a training post in every way.
The post carries an educational commitment from the Department of T&O. The successful candidate will be given an Assigned Educational Supervisor and a Clinical Supervisor and be expected to complete regular workplace-based assessments to ensure that portfolios are kept up to date and subsequent applications into more permanent post or in national training schemes have a higher chance of success.
Main duties of the job
On Call Rota 1 in 12 on-call rota, non resident on call and a 1:12 Split weekend on call. You will have a fixed week day on call 1:3 weeks.
Trauma Lists: You will be assigned to a weekly Trauma list which is always consultant supervised and led.
Extensive non-operative clinical experience: The successful candidate will gain exposure to virtual fracture clinics, Fracture clinics to see new and follow-up patients and subspeciality clinics in elective orthopaedics alongside their consultant.
