An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our well-established Medical and Nursing team within the Medical Division at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust (Huddersfield Site)
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual to take on the role of the Ward Manager to provide leadership, management and support to the ward team and is responsible for the provision of patient care, ensuring that it is evidence based and of a high standard and to maintain 24-hour responsibility for the Acute Floor (46 bedded unit) alongside another band 7.
The post holder will ensure that patients receive the necessary care and treatment to promote health by preventing and treating a wide variety of acute medical conditions in adults. This will be achieved through the application of specialist knowledge, skills and practice.
This role requires close working relationships with a wide range of the multi-disciplinary/speciality teams, the Consultants, Heads of Nursing, Matrons, Ward Managers and the Clinical Site Management team. In order to succeed in this role you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to have the ability to deal with challenging situations in a fast paced environment in a professional and calm manner.
Main duties of the job
As Ward manager you will be responsible for:
- The day to day running of the ward
- Managing a large team of nurses and healthcare assistants
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Completion of audits / clinical governance
- Producing management reports, off duties and verification of pay
- Other duties as required
