Job summary

We are a busy Emergency Department based on two sites Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax and the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary seeing approximately 140,000 per annum. Both of our departments have a separate minor injury stream which runs from 08.00-00.00 hours daily.We are lucky to have been offered further investment to increase our nursing workforce within both of our emergency departments and to extend the minor injuries service. The minor injury service is currently nurse led with senior clinician input on site where required.We are looking for a dynamic, hard-working experienced Senior Emergency Nurse Practitioner to join our friendly and pro-active nurse lead team and compliment our service as we develop further.

We are currently going through reconfiguration and will have two brand new A&E departments at both sites.

Main duties of the job

Full or Part Time

We seek an individual who is currently working or has worked as a Senior ENP and is keen to further develop their minor injury and minor illness clinical skills and also the skills of others. Applications from ENP's with a minor illness and NMP qualification are especially welcome.

We also welcome our YAS colleagues who have completed their minor injuries course to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential

  • First level Registration
  • Evidence of Teaching/Mentoring skills
  • Nurse practitioner training
  • Adult/Paediatrics BLS
  • Responsible for own post basic education. To meet the requirements of the service and PREP
  • Evidence of appropriate on-going development to A&E nursing
  • Demonstrable significant post registration experience as Band 6 ENP with some Band 5 experience in A&E

Desirable

  • Evidence of post graduate diploma/experience plus further specialist training to masters or equivalent level
  • Non-Medical Prescriber
  • Intermediate Life Support
  • Accredited Minor Illness Course
  • Recruitment and selection training

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Essential

  • Knowledge of future provision of services
  • Interest in the management of minor injuries
  • Experience in working with PGDs /nurse led protocols

Desirable

  • Flexible thinking
  • Change management experience
  • Candidate will have a keen interest in working with patients with Minor Injuries and a minor injuries qualification
