Job summary

We are looking to recruit motivated, caring, and compassionate individuals for the role of Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to assist qualified nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care within clearly defined limits and attainment of defined competence.

There are a range of roles available on our wards and departments across both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be a motivated and passionate about high quality patient care have excellent interpersonal skills, be flexible and have an ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.

Previous experience in a similar setting would be beneficial.

It is essential that the candidate is confident , resilient and has a caring nature.

For Ward areas you WILLbe required to work shifts and unsocial hours to meet the needs of the service; these include evenings, nights, bank holidays and weekends.

  • To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
  • Work in a collaborative and co-operative manner with other members of the care team.

  • To undertake training re Manual Handling and adhere to principals taught
  • To follow Health and Safety policies relevant to working environment and attend mandatory updates in accordance with Trust policy

  • To establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with multi-disciplinary team

  • NVQ level 2 in health and social care OR care certificate issued by employer OR 18 months experience in an acute hospital setting
  • GCSE English Level 9-2 (A - C) or equivalent

Experience

  • Care experience in a hospital setting
