Job summary
This is an
expanded fulltime post replacing a retiring parttime consultant. The post holder will be responsible for the provision
of psychiatric care and
consultant responsibilities within a multidisciplinary team serving
the population of Wokingham Borough, alongside consultant colleagues in
the team.
Wokingham CMHT
is fully integrated with Social Care and comprises of a range of NHS and social
care professionals and support staff. The role is mostly working with those requiring
a longer intervention and assessing
new referrals (Common Point of Entry).
The post holder
will hold a key role in providing medical care and leadership within the service.
The team promote seamless care across
their interfaces with primary care, the
recovery college, substance misuse services, the crisis resolution and home treatment team, inpatient services,
and the Common Point of Entry through which all new referrals pass.
The
post holder will have access to regular management supervision, peer group supervision and a PDP group.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with a multidisciplinary team comprising one
Joint Service Manager, 5 team leads including
the AMHP Lead and performance lead, five community psychiatric nurses,
11 social workers/AMHPs and three community
support workers. There is a team of 5 psychologists/ psychotherapists
lead by a Consultant Psychologist The
team covers Wokingham Borough and is not sectorised as with other larger areas such as Slough and Reading.
The team use
the Recovery Approach, and all service users are encouraged to participate in the implementation of
the Recovery Star and WRAP (wellness recovery
action planning). The post holder will be expected to understand and support
this model of working.
The CMHT medical resource
has merged with that of the Common Point of Entry and the post holder will, be
involved in organising this resource and participating in initial psychiatric
assessments. This is currently around three assessments per week shared across the whole team, half of
these done by the consultant colleague who has a focus on this work.
The CMHT has close links with primary care and the post holder will participate in clinical discussions and
educational sessions. The CMHT works closely with Wokingham Crisis Resolution
and Home Treatment Team and in-patient services, and the post holder will facilitate communication across these interfaces.
