Job summary

Are you a Band 5 Occupational Therapist looking for the chance to grow into a Band 6 role?

This development post offers the chance to build your skills and progress your career in a supportive, friendly inpatient therapy team at St Marks Hospital, Maidenhead, with some cross-cover at Upton Hospital, Slough.

You'll join a close-knit team of OTs, physios, and therapy assistants who work together to help patients regain independence and return home safely. Our service supports adults to return home after a hospital stay, and you'll manage a caseload on an inpatient ward with a wide mix of complex needs. This role is well suited to someone ambitious, motivated, and keen to develop in an environment where learning and growth are actively supported.

Day to day, you'll be:

  • Assessing patients and creating rehab plans.
  • Running or supporting groups such as falls prevention and exercise.
  • Working closely with patients, families, and the wider MDT.
  • Supporting therapy assistants and students.
  • Taking part in ward rounds, case conferences and discharge planning.

Main duties of the job

The post will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team within an inpatient setting which will offer assessment and treatment for patients in the east of Berkshire.

  • To provide supervision guidance to band 3 and 4 support workers in the therapy team. To make recommendations to the wider MDT and to support with education of students.
  • To identify service developments, needs, contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the service and have responsibility for defined projects.
  • To be responsible for a complex caseload using an interdisciplinary, patient focused rehabilitative approach with support from the senior therapists.
