Estates Mobile Technician (Multi-Skilled)

Job summary

We are looking for a self-motivated and reliable individual, with a positive can-do attitude. You must be a time served Mobile Estates Technician with experience working on reactive breakdowns, planned maintenance, minor/project works within a healthcare (or similar) building environment.

A genuine multi-trade hard services background is essential, with any previous mechanical/electrical/building/plumbing and gas training/practise an essential for the role. Any prior electrical competency training is a value-add skill for the role. You will play a proactive role within a dynamic and innovative department, delivering key objectives to meet both departmental and Trust requirements.

You will work in our friendly, high performing Estates team across Berkshire, ensuring excellent service at all times. A great communicator, you will enjoy working in collaboration with the Estates Supervisor and colleagues of the Estates team.

Working flexibly, you will benefit from working across multiple sites in Berkshire; and be able to travel independently, whilst transporting any tools and equipment, as required to meet the requirements of the role. Working Pattern:37.5 hours + on call stipend after 2 months (on call attracts additional payments of approximately £5,200/annum) + occasional overtime (as scheduled).

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure repair requests are handled promptly, meeting quality standards, and keep clients advised of the status. Oversee complex plant breakdowns and lead recommendations for resolution.

  • Provide clear guidance to non-technical end users.

  • Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are carried out by the Estates team, covering compliance with Legionella prevention, scalding risks, PAT, fire alarm testing, lifts, boilers, and building fabric.

  • Responsible for purchasing stores and parts as needed, using a purchase card system.

  • Record time and materials used on jobs via the MICAD Helpdesk software on a Trust-issued device.

  • Work from instructions, drawings, and specifications independently and ensure others do the same.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex faults using industry best practices.

  • Manufacture, assemble, and install new work.

  • Manage H&S and risk assessments for staff and contractors.

  • Ensure work is completed to a high standard, including finishing and making good.

  • Lead discussions with the Estates Supervisor on significant building or engineering faults affecting services.

  • Stay flexible and updated on new technology, recommending innovation when needed.

  • Deputise for the Estates Maintenance Supervisor as required.

  • Always carry a mobile phone during duty and respond promptly.
