Clinical/Counselling Psychologist

Job summary

We are looking for a very enthusiastic,compassionate and proactive individual for the role of band 7 Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist, to join a very well-established multidisciplinary team.

Our service, based in CAMHS Phoenix on the Wokingham Community Hospital site, is a Tier 4, alternative to admission Day Hospital and Home treatment service, that provides evidence based psychiatric, nursing, and therapeutic interventions for young people between the age 12 - 18 years. Young people at CAMHS Phoenix may present withsevere and complex mental health difficultiesassessed as requiring Tier 4 level care,includingwhere these disorders are co-morbid with neurodevelopmental diagnoses such as: Serious risk of harm to self; suicidal thoughts and behaviour,Emotional dysregulation and symptoms that would be best described as emerging unstable personality disorder, Eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa,ARFID and disordered eating in the context of emotional dysregulation, trauma, and other mental disorder, Low mood, depressive disorder, Early onset psychosis, Severe OCD, complex PTSDand Other psychological disturbance that may adversely affect functioning but falls outsidetypical diagnostic criteria.

All young people who are accepted to the service will follow a structured programme, in line withrelevantNICE guidelines (for exampleanorexia nervosa, depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation).

It is a part time job - 22.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct specialist assessments and develop a clear and detailed formulation of the service user's presenting difficulties and/or the systemic issues present.

  • Treatment Planning: In collaboration with service users, develop personalised treatment plans based on assessment findings and service user needs, in collaboration with service users, to support their recovery and improve quality of life.

  • Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver evidence based therapeutic interventions using a range of psychological techniques and modalities.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary team clinicians and multi-agency representatives to ensure the delivery of integrated and holistic client care.

  • Supervision and Training: In line with experience and role development plans, provide supervision and mentorship to junior clinicians and trainees, contributing to their professional development and enhancing the treatment they offer.

  • Research and Development: Regularly undertake applied research, adding to the evidence base for practice, development activities and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of clinical services.

  • Contributing to Service Development: Actively engage in the improvement and development of mental health services, implementing new treatment approaches, providing insights and expertise to enhance the overall quality of care.
