Job summary

Are you an experienced Therapy Assistant looking for growth or development? Do you have experience working with Registered Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists? Or have you got aspirations to be a qualified OT or Physio?

We have an exciting opportunity within our inpatient unit in Wokingham Community Hospital, for a Band 4, Senior Multi Therapy Assistant (SMTA), working within our therapy team, rotating between Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

We are looking for enthusiastic staff with experience, with a warm personality and great people skills to be an integral member of the multi professional inpatient team who will support the patients through their rehabilitation and maintenance while an inpatient. Along side the therapy aspect you will have knowledge and understanding of the patient's pathway and assist in planning and implementing progressive treatment plans and discharge planning, working alongside external partners too.

Our SMTA's may also have the opportunity for development through our apprenticeship programmes.

Main duties of the job

  • Work closely as part of the Multi Disciplinary Team for the care of patients

  • Ensure that patients taken on through the service are managed in accordance with a clear care plan identifying their needs and ensuring appropriate actions are taken

  • Carry own caseload of patients, to implement prewritten treatment plans.

  • Assist the patient to recognise when their personal agreed goals have been achieved.

  • Discuss patients' progress while on the service and review with the multi-disciplinary team as appropriate

  • Contribute and participate in professional development meetings
