This is an exciting time of growth and change within East Berkshire NHS Trust as our CAMH service is currently working collaboratively with children and young people, and partners to deliver the Governments Programme for mental health support to be available in schools.

To support the development of our newly established Mental Help Support Teams, we are looking to recruit x4 Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner and Supervisors to support the implementation of two new Mental Health Support Teams (Bracknell and Slough). We have x2 vacancies in Slough and x2 vacancies in Bracknell.

In line with the Government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the new Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) role is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

Main duties of the job

  1. To be trained and confident in the use of CYP IAPT principles, evidence based interventions and routine outcome measures.

  1. To care co-ordinate and manage a defined caseload of children and young people presenting with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties in schools

  1. To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages / programmes for children and young people and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and trust policy.

  1. To provide day to day clinical and supervisory support for the Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP).

  1. To provide specialist mental health advice, consultation and signposted using an outcome based triage model, to schools

  1. To provide training to schools staff, parents and carers in conjunction with colleagues.

  1. Within schools actively promote the whole school based approach to developing and maintaining emotional health and well-being.

  1. To train and mentor students and less experienced members of the team.

  1. To act as an autonomous practitioner with an understanding of own limitations and recognition of when to seek support.

  • Qualified in EMHP Post Graduate Dip/Cert as defined by the BABCP, BPS etc. e.g. a course, which following completion, one can embark on the process of accreditation. Or a CWP with 2 years experience working within an MHST.
  • Hold a current registration with the BABCP/BPS.
  • Qualified in Senior EMHP/SWP course or have two years post qualification experience and be willing to undertake Senior EMHP/Supervisor training.
