The Personal Safety Team are looking for a full-time Personal Safety Tutor & Violence Reduction Advisor to join the Personal Safety team (based at Crocus suite, Prospect Park Hospital) as part of the wider Training and Organisation Development (OD) team.

The Personal Safety team delivers Prevention & Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training, Breakaway, PSTS (all certified by the BILD ACT, Restraint Reduction Network) and Search training. We are looking for a candidate to join the team who has the specialist skills for this unique position. As a qualified GSA tutor, you will support the delivery of this important training locally as well as externally.

With expertise in the field of PMVA and Restrictive Interventions, you will assist the Personal Safety and PMVA Lead in representing the Trust in promoting training and support strategies in the PMVA and use of restrictive interventions internally as well as externally.

The job is Monday to Friday. Working hours can be flexible between 8-4pm or 9-5pm to support the delivery of training. There are opportunities to work from home on an ad-hoc basis.

Main duties of the job

  • Work with the Personal Safety and PMVA Lead to ensure make sure that personal safety training plans are delivered and training targets for staff are met.
  • Use effective presentation skills to present a range of theoretical concepts and physical interventions related to the reduction of violence and aggression and therapeutic management, to staff at all levels and to external agencies.
  • Ensure that fit for purpose solutions to personal safety training are used, taking into account models of best practice and best use of resources, including technological solutions.
  • Work with the Personal Safety and PMVA Lead and the Personal Safety Team to adapt and develop training and support strategies which reflect the changing needs and concerns of the workforce audience.
  • Work with the Personal Safety and PMVA Lead and Personal Safety Team to develop policies, protocols and training for physical interventions which reflect current trends and research outcomes.
  • Providing guidance/advice and practical support to clinical areas when required.
