If so, Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for you to develop public health skills and knowledge, as a Development Community Staff Nurse for Health Visiting .

The successful candidates will work within the Reading locality health visiting team but will need to be flexible around working from different sites as they support children aged 0-5, their families and Health Visiting colleagues. They will support the implementation of the Healthy Child Programme underpinned by the Solihull Approach model of working.

The ideal candidates for these roles will demonstrate an interest and passion for health visiting. They will need to be a good team player with good communication and interpersonal skills and with the ability to work effectively with service users and a range of other agencies and professionals.

The Specialist Community Public Health NursingProgramme is offered by Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust at either Oxford Brookes or Bucks New University.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide support to families within a variety of community settings under the direction of the Health Visitor, taking into account the diverse social, health and wellbeing needs of the community.

  • To plan and deliver health enhancing activities for children and their families to include working in groups, child health clinics, developmental review clinics, and on an individual basis.

  • To provide support to families using the Solihull approach model in behaviour management, parenting skills and delivering programmes of care to vulnerable families as identified by the health visitor.

  • To support breastfeeding and parent infant relationships applying the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative standards.

  • To liaise with other agencies and services to provide integrated and cohesive support for children and their families, under the direction of the health visitor.

  • Work with the HV team to achieve the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) especially focussing on the antenatal and the 6-8 week postnatal contacts
