We currently have Deputy Ward Manager roles available in various wards.
Our Wards:
- Bluebell, Daisy, Rose and Snowdrop acute wards for adults with mental health difficulties
- Sorell ward for adults with mental health difficulties who need psychiatric intensive care.
- Rowan ward for adults with dementia.
- Orchid ward for older adults with mental health difficulties who need to be assessed.
As Deputy Ward Manager, you'll have the chance to earn the Duty Senior Nurse (DSN) allowance of £2,000 per annum. This role comes with significant responsibilities, including operational management of multiple hospital units, including acute wards, older adults' wards, PICU, and Place of Safety, on a rotational basis.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring safe staffing across the wards, being the first responder to emergencies, and handling calls and queries not specific to individual inpatients or wards. This diverse role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership and problem-solving skills while building strong relationships and collaborating with a wide range of professionals and teams.
Main duties of the job
Lead and Inspire: Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our wards. In the absence of the Ward Manager, you'll be the go-to person for the overall management of the ward. Your ability to make decisions and lead with confidence is key.
Support and Supervision: Assist in the implementation of clinical and management supervision for the staff within the ward area. We believe in nurturing our team members to help them reach their full potential.
Clinical Excellence: Take the lead in implementing clinical care, ensuring nursing outcomes are evaluated and continuously improved. Your dedication to delivering top-tier patient care is essential.
Efficient Staffing: Collaborate with the Ward Manager to plan the efficient use of staffing resources on the ward. Ensuring safe staffing levels with the necessary skills mix is crucial, all while managing the budget effectively.
Educational Mentor: Ensure the learning needs of students assigned to the ward are met, including crafting tailored education packages. Your guidance will shape the next generation of healthcare professionals.
