Wellbeing Support Worker
Slough Community Mental Health Team
Band 4
37.5 hours
We are looking for an innovative and dynamic Wellbeing Support Worker to join us in Slough CMHT.
They will have the support and access to adult mental health services and work alongside patients in accessing the health, social and voluntary services that will best meet their needs. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of the Slough Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), this role will provide practical and emotional support to users of Slough adult mental health services. The role will deliver advice and support to enable adults with mental health difficulties to focus on achievable goals and access local community resources including peer support, group interventions, self-management and signposting, linking into local authority and community services in order to:
- Facilitate appropriate self-management.
- Support recovery
- Facilitate timely intervention to prevent crisis escalation.
Supervision and in-house training will be provided, the post holder will work as a member of the CMHT and in liaison with a range of professionals across adult mental health services and voluntary sector agencies.
They will co-ordinate and support people to access a wide range of community services and resources including social care, housing, family, debt and employment support, as well as enabling bridging into other mental health services when needed.
They will provide face to face meetings and workshops, offer telephone and online support and assist in the delivery of groups where required. A key focus of the role will be to have initial contact with patients to understand their needs with a focus of practical, situation and social support.

Essential
- Evidence of vocational training or further study
- Education to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake relevant training Experience of working in or with a diverse or multi-cultural community
Desirable
- Experience working/training in mental health services or studying psychology/health studies
- Honours Degree in Psychology (Upper Second class 2:1 or higher)
