The Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting new opportunity for a Clinical Lead Specialist Children in Care Mental Health (and health staff in Youth Health and Justice) to join our CAMHS services and with our local authority colleagues across the East of Berkshire (Bracknell, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Slough). This post is four days a week (30 hours per week.)

Berkshire CAMHS is an innovative and dynamic service, providing specialist community mental health care to a child population of approximately 300,000 across the county. Care is provided through several different specialist teams and pathways.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint a Band 8B Clinical Lead Specialist Children in Care Mental Health (and health staff in Youth Health and Justice). This post will lead on Children in Care (CiC) and mental health, working in partnership across three Local Authorities which sit within the East of Berkshire, including the management of a small team.

This role will be the point of contact for the three local authorities providing advice, consultation, and support to the professional networks across the three areas of Bracknell, Windsor Ascot & Maidenhead and Slough.

The Clinical Lead Specialist Children in Care Mental Health must be able to demonstrate both experience of working with and a genuine interest in the health and wellbeing of Children in Care (CiC). Be well organised and have excellent communication and leadership skills and be familiar with the demands and working environments of both a Social Care and Health settings.

The post holder will also oversee the 3 local authorities' health staff, working as part of multidisciplinary and multi-agency Youth Health & Justice Services and will support strategic and operational development of services as required.

Essential

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC) Occupational Therapy degree level qualification and registered with the HCPC or Registered Social Worker with relevant social work qualification or Other Health professional with relevant post graduate qualification.

  • Registration with HCPC where required

Continuous Professional Development

  • Substantial supervision experience.
  • Experience of assessment and treatment of children and adolescents and their families across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.

  • Minimum 4 years' experience working with Children, young people, families and groups in Mental Health setting.
