Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Full time Band 7 Primary Mental Health practitioner to join the newly developed Primary Mental Health Team (PMHT) 4 Youth, based in Wokingham.

The PMHT 4 Youth team will provide assessments and short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people in Wokingham with mild to moderate mental health needs. Clinicians working for the PMHT 4 Youth service will promote the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people in the community. Outreach support to promote engagement, where needed, will be provided and the team will work closely and proactively with partner agencies, including the Mental Health Support Teams, Early Help, Youth Offending Teams and CAMHS.

This is an important post at the interface with partner agencies and specialist CAMHS. The post has been informed and agreed in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council Children's Services, who remain key partners in the development of the Primary Mental Health Team and the development of wider emotional health and wellbeing services for young people.

The PMHT 4 Youth Team sits alongside the newly established Mental Health Support Team in Schools, in Wokingham. Operational management and clinical supervision will be provided within Berkshire Healthcare, but the work will be completed within Wokingham Borough Council and the wider community.

Main duties of the job

Essential

  • To have undertaken a recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, psychology, medicine, social work, occupational therapy or to have other relevant experience and demonstrable competence to work in the mental health field in the NHS and post registration clinical training and qualification in to at least Diploma level in CBT Therapy
  • This post requires Accreditation with BABCP bodies
