Job summary

Op Courage South East is an established Veterans' Mental Health Service providing psychosocial and specialist psychological support to UK veterans across the South East. As the lead service within our provider collaborative, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust partner with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Walking with the Wounded to deliver the service to veterans in Berks, Oxon, Bucks, Hants, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

We are recruiting into an existing 8b Clinical Lead role, where the post holder will oversee the clinical delivery of the stepped care model. The post holder will work closely with senior multidisciplinary colleagues, ensuring that the pathway is evidence based, effective, innovative, veteran informed. The majority of our caseload is trauma related problems, including PTSD, CPTSD and moral injury. We are looking for someone who has specialist experience in trauma treatment and experience of working with veterans.

This is an exciting role with significant influence to shape the development of our service over the next few years. We offer training and support to enable our staff to excel at their role and we strive to be leaders in this area of mental health care. As a senior lead within the service, the post holder will be pivotal to the success of the team and the service going forward.

Main duties of the job

  • The postholder will be responsible for the oversight and development of the clinical pathway across the stepped care model in BOB, Hampshire and IoW, liaising with the wider MDT, other senior MDT colleagues such as the Operational Lead and provider collaborative leads, and our partners within the provider collaborative.

  • The postholder will line manage and supervise 8a psychologists and psychological therapists and provide support to senior MDT colleagues, to ensure the delivery of a veteran and trauma informed clinical pathway.

  • The postholder will be responsible for the collection and reporting of clinical performance outcome data and will need to work together with the other senior leads to prepare the required information for commissioners and other required governance processes.

  • The postholder will have involvement in recruitment and staff support, ensuring that the service is able to meet its demands, that staff are appropriately trained and skilled, and that the mental health of staff is looked after.

  • The postholder will oversee the development and implementation of a research/project strategy that enables the service to evaluate its offer and takes innovative steps in mental health care for veterans.
