Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 2 Receptionist to join our CQC rated 'Outstanding' Trust, within our Phlebotomy Service

Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, you will be working on Reception in a busy team, answering the phone, welcoming patients, and booking them in for their blood tests.

We are extending our opening hours to 07:45-18:30hrs Monday-Fridays and Saturdays 08:00-12:00hrs.

Free parking is available on-site for our staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Welcome patients to the Phlebotomy Unit in a courteous and helpful manner trying to allay fears and anxieties that they may have.
  • To be responsible for dealing with patients, the public, General Practitioners, and other Health Professional's enquiries and maintain a helpful and professional approach at all times.
  • The post holder will be responsible for making appointments for patients who need a blood test and inputting the patient details onto the Sanjix appointment system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • To issue sample containers and receiving various types of samples at Reception ensuring the patient has put all required details on the samples to be tested.
  • Be able to demonstrate independent working while working in a busy environment but being able to ask the team for advice when required.

  • Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment or similar customer service role
