Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join the Berkshire Traumatic Stress Service (BTSS) and Birth Trauma Pathway within BTSS. BTSS is a specialist service providing assessment and treatment for adults with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). The Birth Trauma pathway is a specialist service providing assessment and treatment for adults with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to their Birth experience. The post holder will be working 1.5 days per week in the birth trauma pathway and 3.5 days in the BTSS main service.

You will be part of a dedicated, dynamic and friendly team of psychological therapists and psychologists committed to providing the best care for traumatised individuals.

You will be based at Erlegh House on the University of Reading White Knights Campus. The location has plenty of car parking with electric car charging points, access to green spaces, local shops.

We offer a blended model of delivery including face to face and online working from our well resourced clinic space or from home when appropriate.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will contribute to the completion of service development and evaluation projects and research
  • The post holder will contribute to the triage process, including reviewing referrals to the team and attending meetings with other services to discuss cases, alongside a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist.
  • The post holder will be involved in developing clinical materials for the service
  • The post holder will work with BTSS service user involvement group.

The "must haves" for you to be considered for this role:

  • Holder of an upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology or an entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to contributing to the delivery of high-quality care and support for people diagnosed with PTSD and C-PTSD
  • Have degree level knowledge of psychological research, experience completing research, and the ability to complete clinical audits and service evaluation
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills when managing the duties and responsibilities

Whilst there are opportunities for hybrid working in this role, there is an expectation that the majority of time for this role will be spent in the office at Erlegh House, University of Reading.
