Job summary
We are looking to fill an Assistant Psychologist post within Children, Families and All Age Services (CFAA)
The post will be based within the Autism Assessment Team (AAT) and ADHD Team, across West Berkshire (Wokingham, Reading and Newbury). You will be part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrists, speech and language therapists, clinical nurse specialists, occupational therapists, mental health practitioners and assistant psychologists.
Please note that the post-holder will initially be based within the CFAA Health Hub in Wokingham, which is responsible for all new referrals into CFAA, to support the screening of referrals for autism and ADHD assessment. They will then transition into their permanent role within the Autism Assessment and ADHD Teams but there will be continued flexibility around providing support to the Health Hub depending on service needs and pressures.
The Assistant Psychologists receive fortnightly supervision on a group basis from a Clinical Psychologist (alongside several other Assistant Psychologists already in post).
Main duties of the job
CFAA Health Hub
- Triaging new referrals to the Health Hub, particularly those suggesting the presence of possible autism and/or ADHD
- Ensuring that screening questionnaires are sent out and returned
- Scoring and interpreting screening questionnaires to help decide whether or not to transfer the referral to the Autism and/or ADHD Team for further assessment
- Liaison with parents/school/other professionals where needed
Specialist ADHD & Autism Assessment Teams
- Administration/scoring of Quantative Behaviour tests (Qb) & Conners 3 questionnaires used in the assessment of ADHD (equipment, software and full training provided)
- Assist in triage and management of referrals to both teams
- Assist in diagnostic assessment by carrying out interviews with staff in educational setting, conducting school observations & writing reports for the diagnostic team
- To be part of the clinical moderation team on the digital support platform SHaRON (Support, Hope and Resources Online Network)
- Carrying out clinically related administration, audits, data collection and/or projects as needed
