IPASS (The Integrated Pain and Spinal Service) is looking to recruit a Band 8A Lead Psychologist on a 1-year FTC contract in order to lead the psychology arm of our Long-Covid service as well as work within our existing Pain service. The post is part time (22.5 hrs.), and there is the opportunity for elements of home and flexible working for which you will be provided appropriate equipment.
Long-Covid rehabilitation is an essential need in the current times and this post offers a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering high-quality, compassionate care to this patient group. Working as part of the Berkshire Long Covid Integrated Service (BLIS) alongside colleagues from the acute sector you will work across both Primary and Secondary care levels facilitating specialist assessment and management of Long-Covid within individual and group environments. This role is appropriate for those with excellent communication skills, a drive to develop services and who wish to progress to a high level of clinical skills in managing long term conditions.
Main duties of the job
- You will be a highly skilled Psychologist as well as have a passion and relevant experience to engage and motivate others.
- Provide high quality care to patients who have been diagnosed with Long-Covid through the provision of assessment, group, and individual treatment sessions.
- An opportunity to assist in the design of a new service to accommodate the needs of long-covid patients alongside the existing IPASS framework working closely with our Lead Pain Psychologist to do so.
- Participate in and provide regular supervision and case discussion.
- Work collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team, including other Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Consultant and offer unique psychological insight

- Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, two or more distinct psychological therapies (including CBT) as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC registered

- Experience of working with clients across the whole life course and presenting with problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of CBT and at least one other psychological therapy (e.g. ACT, systemic, compassion focussed therapy) in the context of long-term medical conditions.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of facilitating groups.

- Experience of working with clients with chronic pain.
- Experience of working in a clinical health psychology service.
