An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant Team Leader to join our CQC rated 'Outstanding' Trust, within our Urgent Care Service.

Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, you will be working in a passionate integrated team operating in partnership with the Out of Hours GPs, Practitioners and other multidisciplinary teams within Berkshire Healthcare.

You will lead a team of healthcare assistants, working closely with the qualified staff to provide high quality, evidence based, efficient and effective care to patients accessing the service.

Our Minor Injuries Unit is open 7 days a week between 8am-10pm. After 6.30pm weekdays we also operate an Out of Hours Primary Care Service until midnight and from 8am until midnight at weekends.

The service runs 365 days a year and the post holder will work a 7-day roster including weekends and Bank Holidays. Shift times include:

8am-4pm4pm-midnightLong days also optional Free parking is available on-site for our staff.

Main duties of the job

o Triage all new referrals attending the Minor Injuries Unit and Newbury Primary Care Centre to assess the severity of the injury/illness and prioritise the patients accordingly.

o To support qualified staff in the effective management of patients in the Minor Injuries Unit and Newbury Primary Care Service, providing direct care.

o Carry out appropriate treatment plans in line with evidence-based knowledge and skills within competency of the role, seeking advice from Practitioners when required.

o To provide supervision and managerial support to junior healthcare assistants within the team.

o Ensure the smooth running of the department by maintaining adequate stock control and ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner and are cost effective.
