Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic andexperiencedCBT Therapist/Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologistto join theOp Courage Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing service workingacross Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

OpCourage Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service covers the whole west region of South East (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire including Isle of Wight.

The post holder will provide assessment and psychological treatment for veterans with military-attributable complex mental health issues, including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety disorders, substance misuse and anger issues.

The post-holder will receive high quality supervision, undertake training in the service's treatment model and will be fully supported to offer evidence-based treatment following NICE guidance.

We pride ourselves on offering excellent support provision within the team to carry out clinical duties including access to daily senior clinicians on rota, regular individual supervision as well as specialist supervision in the compassion focused therapy model and EMDR.

The post holder will be equipped to work remotely and there are opportunities for flexible working and working from home as agreed with the Head of Service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide assessment and psychological treatment for veterans with military-attributable complex mental health issues, including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety disorders, substance misuse and anger issues.

The post-holder will receive high quality supervision, undertake training in the service's treatment model and will be fully supported to offer evidence-based treatment following NICE guidance. The service has links with Reading University and there will be CPD opportunities.

There are exciting opportunities to contribute to service development and service promotion in a number of ways. For example, we are developing and delivering training packages to raise awareness of veterans' needs and developing other professionals' skills in the assessment and psychological treatment of military veterans; and we offer advice and consultation on veterans' psychological care to multidisciplinary mental health staff, IAPT clinicians and other, non-NHS services, including military charities.

The post holder will contribute to the clinical supervision and line management of trainee clinical psychologists and assistant/graduate psychologists, or other professionals' CPD placements.

The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and will engage in appropriate research activities for audit and service evaluation.

  • Holder of an HCPC regulated Clinical/Counselling Psychology qualification OR Post graduate certificate in evidence-based psychological treatments and eligible for BABCP accreditation
