Group Therapies Practitioner

Job summary
Managing Emotions Programme
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time core professional (Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse) with significant experience in mental health services.
The successful applicant will co-deliver group psychoeducation sessions online as part of the 'Managing Emotions Programme' (MEP). MEP is heavily informed by Dialectical Behavioural Therapy-skills, and accessible to any adult in East Berkshire (both primary and secondary-care level) living with personality difficulties and/or emotional dysregulation.
Currently, the groups are being delivered online by clinicians and Lived Experience Practitioners. However, we are hoping to expand the service offered to include both in-person and online groups, as well as carers' groups in 2023/24. The successful applicant's 'can-do' proactive and pragmatic attitude will be key to making this a success.
MEP is part of a new model of service, where the successful applicant will not hold a caseload, assess, or manage risk. However, MEP is hosted by the Mental Health Integrated Community Service (MHICS), which sits astride primary and secondary care. That being so, the successful applicant may have the opportunity to become involved with other tranches of group therapy and/or be asked to take on occasional pieces of casework with MHICS. This is anticipated to be a very small portion of the role, however.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will take on a new, key role within the Trust. Working in a hybrid way across East Berkshire; and liaising directly with both Primary and Secondary care. Reporting to the Group Therapies Lead, the post holder will be responsible for contributing to the development and delivery of virtual and in-person group programmes as detailed above. This will focus upon the new 'Managing Emotions Programme', a Psychoeducation group developed to support people living with personality difficulties, which has been co-produced and will be delivered alongside Lived Experience Practitioners.
The3/4 "must haves" for you to be considered for this role:
- A core professional qualification in health or social care: (Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse) with current registration
- Experience of and interest in working with adults with significant mental health needs
