Job summary
Berkshire Community Dental Service (CDS) is looking for a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry to join their proactive, enthusiastic and innovative workforce with a great team spirit. You will be providing care to people with additional needs using conscious sedation and general anaesthesia as an adjunct to their care. Also be advising colleagues and leading on some aspects of the service.
You will be an experienced dentist on the specialist register and have established leadership skills; excellent communication and liaison skills to engage and collaborate with a number of colleagues and stakeholders both internal and external.
The service has 7 clinics ranging from Newbury to Langley and over 45 members of staff treating patients with additional needs including children, people with learning and physical disabilities and the elderly. Base is at Whitley clinic but you may also work at other clinics and in the domiciliary setting. It is therefore essential that you can drive, have a UK driving licence and a car for travel between clinics and hospitals.
You will be on the rota for the Berkshire Dental Access Centre scheme and provide primary dental care for patients not registered or unable to receive emergency care with a General Dental Practitioner under NHS arrangements. This service is provided both on weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
Post is 37.5 hours per week - Monday - Friday. Part-time hours may be considered.
