Job summary

This is an exciting new role for the team and an opportunity to support the Diabetes Inpatient Nursing Service to provide diabetes care to people whilst they are inpatients.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary team you will provide support and management for people with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.

You will be an enthusiastic and experienced practitioner, with a warm personality and great people skills.

You will need to be adaptable to change and have the ability to work in a busy paced environment.

You will be responsible for ensuring high qualityevidence-basedcare for people with diabetes, their families, and carers.

Main duties of the job

You will assist in the delivery of care and diabetes management for adults with diabetes whilst they are inpatients.

Working within clearly defined accountability frameworks and boundaries of limitation you will provide the best possible care in collaboration with colleagues, and people with diabetes.

You will support the Diabetes Specialist Nursing Service to maintain and enhance the delivery of diabetes care in hospital and you will also support provision of patient and healthcare professional education.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Formal Assistant Practitioner qualification/ Health and Social Degree or equivalent
  • Or Nursing Associate Qualification registered with the NMC.
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care Practice.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Diabetes and its management

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working in a relevant health or social care setting

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Dealing effectively with a wide range of people
  • Able to work to consistently high standards
  • Be willing to train and practice clinical skills that are deemed appropriate to the clinical area.
