Job summary
The team are looking to recruit 2 trainee advanced clinical practitioners from a multiprofessional background that hold an NMC or HCPC active registration. We are looking to recruit 2 trainees who are actively working within Urgent and Emergency Care within secondary care or delivering emergency care within the community setting.
Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners positions will commence at the end of August 2024 with the HEI programme commencing in September 2024 at Salford University for a duration of 2 and a half years, inclusive of the end point assessment. A member of the HEI faculty will be present during the interview process.
The successful trainee advanced clinical practitioners will act as a role model and will develop their knowledge to deliver advanced practice level practice across all four pillars within the emergency department. Promoting patient centred clinical effectiveness in care, developing the essential clinical skills to provide care autonomously following the completion of the trainee position whilst actively being involved in quality improvement alongside the wider Emergency Department team. This will include developing the skills to perform clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical reasoning, decision making and planning patient care and treatment, diagnosing, prescribing, contributing to health promotion, and maintaining the safe discharge of patients.
Main duties of the job
1. Clinical Practice (under supervision) - maintaining a portfolio of evidence throughout training to demonstrate professional development within the trainee advanced practitioner role.
a) Assess patients with both minor and complex needs through the application of history taking; physical examination and appropriate use of investigations to confirm diagnosis.
b) Clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological, psychological, and social perspective, and plan clinical care accordingly.
c) Plan, implement and evaluate an effective management plan for the patient, ensuring safe discharge/referral and/or transfer to an appropriate health care service.
d) Develop the skills and knowledge to diagnose and manage acute conditions supported by appropriate supervision.
e) Perform safe management of patients through face-to-face consultation.
f) Discuss with supervisor the utilization of medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within the individuals' scope of professional practice and antimicrobial stewardship.
g) Work towards completion of the Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (V300)
