Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Ward sister/Charge nurse on Ward A2, at Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Ward A2 is an Acute Medical 30 bedded ward with Diabetes speciality included. A2 admits patients direct from the Emergency Department or transfers from AMU.
As a Band 6 sister/Charge nurse on A2, you will regularly be the nurse in charge of the ward, ensuring that your effective leadership and communication skills drive high standards of patient-centred care from your team. You will be an approachable, pro-active and dedicated nurse with sound clinical skills. You will have the confidence to challenge decisions where appropriate.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise own workload, and work well as part of a team
Main duties of the job
To assist the Ward/Unit Manager in creating and maintaining an environment in which members of the ward/department team can contribute to the maximum of their ability in providing a high standard of care, staff welfare and staff training.
Designated to take charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager.
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, and for the development and implementation of programmes of care without supervision.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence based nursing care.
2. Provide management and organisation of a clinical area
3. Participate in the education, development and line management of other staff members
4. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
5. Participate in improvement of services and the quality of care provision.
