Core Triage Midwife

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHSFT

The closing date is 11 May 2025

Job summary

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic midwives to join our skilled and highly motivated Maternity Triage team at Warrington Hospital. The successful post-holder will be a band 6 midwife who has successfully completed their preceptorship.

CQC have recently rated our Maternity Services as "Good" and as a team, we are committed to providing safe, effective care, providing families with a positive experience. As a result, we recognise that our staff are the key contributing factor in providing this care to families and we endeavour to provide a positive and supportive working environment.

In the 2024 CQC Maternity Survey, Warrington Hospital was revealed to be one of only eight Trusts across the country, and one of only two in the North West, whose results were rated as "better than expected" overall - meaning families' experiences of using our maternity services were substantially better than the national average.

Main duties of the job

The successful post-holder will work as a Core Triage Midwife, assessing, implementing and evaluating care throughout antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.

We ask our staff to be flexible within their role so we can provide the most effective and safe care, working with a well functioning multi-disciplinary team to provide the highest quality care.

A brief summary of main duties would involve:

  • Assess, develop, plan and implement care for patients, working autonomously in the clinical area, practising within Trust guidelines and Sphere of Practice.
  • Collaborative working with the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies to meet the needs of our families.
  • Involve families in the planning and delivery of their care.
  • Providing safe, effective and kind care, in line with our Trust values.
  • Communicating effectively with staff and patients.
  • Providing accurate, evidence based clinical advice to our patients.
  • Recognise and respond to emergency situations as they arise.

About us

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a caring and compassionate organisation that is both ambitious and innovative. We are committed to delivering the best outcomes for our patients and providing a positive experience of our staff. We aspire to be outstanding for our patients, our communities and our staff and are committed to being a great place to receive healthcare, work and learn.

Straddling the neighbouring boroughs of Warrington and Halton we are part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care system. Our hospitals are ideally situated to meet the growing healthcare needs of the 330,000 population of these boroughs.

Warrington Hospital is home to our emergency, critical care and maternity services, Halton Hospital is focused on elective procedures and the Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre, although many services are offered at both sites and in community hubs.

A CQC-rated 'good' organisation with 'outstanding' features, we are working towards university hospital status, having achieved teaching hospital status in 2019.

Our workforce of nearly 5,000 across both sites comprises more than 50 nationalities. We strive to be an equal, diverse and inclusive employer, which is recognised as a pioneer in its equality, diversity and inclusion work. The Trust is proud to have achieved numerous external accreditations and is working towards achieving the Anti-Racist Organisation Framework, recognising the importance of anti-racism in all that we do.
