We are thrilled to announce the vacancy for the position of Lead Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in the ED and urgent care, covering a wide array of clinical presentations and pharmacological queries.

Key tasks include: - Leading and enhancing clinical pharmacy services within the ED. - Attaining expert status in medicines optimisation and medicines reconciliation. - Participating as a proactive prescribing pharmacist in ward rounds, with training provided as needed. - Serving as a specialist and expert in emergency and general medicine, offering specialised advice to healthcare teams and patients. - Ensuring safe and efficient patient discharge from the ED. - Collaborating on disease management programs and innovative clinical pharmacy services. - Upholding high standards in both clinical and financial pharmaceutical management.

Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training, education, and support for professional development.

Opportunities for further qualifications (e.g., independent prescribing, MSc Clinical Pharmacy) are supported.

Involves participation in weekend and on-call rotas as part of a 7-day ward-based service.

  • Lead the pharmacy service in the Emergency Department (ED) following current professional standards and clinical governance.
  • Ensure safe and prompt discharge of patients from ED and admissions areas.
  • Serve as a specialist role model and expert in emergency, acute, and general medicine, providing advanced information and advice to healthcare staff and patients, both within and outside the Trust.
