Job summary
Applications are invited for the above post in the Haematology Department at Warrington Hospital. The Haematology Department provides an efficient and committed response to provide the Trust with timely test results that directly impact the patient journey. The department is fully UKAS accredited and is working towards the 2022 standards. A recent successful MHRA inspection of the Transfusion Service at the Halton site has also been achieved.
We operate a 24/ 7 service with core working hours being 08:45 - 17:15 Monday-Friday. The department is an IBMS approved Training Laboratory for pre and post registration training and holds UKAS accreditation to ISO:15189:2012.
The Haematology department processes approximately 340,000 FBC per year and provides a comprehensive and high-quality service to both hospital and community patients.
The laboratory covers automated haematology, coagulation and Blood Transfusion and is equipped with a wide range of analysers including Sysmex Haematology Track, Sysmex Coagulation Analysers, Tosoh HPLC and Ortho Vision analysers in Transfusion. The Haematology department also provides a service on weekday core hours at the satellite laboratory in Halton Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Haematology service and will have delegated responsibility in the absence of the Haematology Service Manager. There will be an opportunity to take the lead for areas such as IT, Quality or specific development projects on discussion and agreement with the Haematology Service Manager.
