Job summary

Linen and Sewing Services Assistant 20 hours

Monday to Friday

We are seeking a Linen and Sewing Services assistant to work at Halton Hospital, however there may be an occasional need to work from our Warrington site.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will be to carry out the ordering and distribution of clean linen and undertaking sewing and other associated tasks with regard to the provision of staff uniforms.

The post-holder will preferably have one to two years seamstress experience working in a sewing room environment.

The post-holder will have a positive attitude and excellent organisational skills.

Although the successful candidate may be offered to work in a designated area, they can be asked at any time to work in other areas, in- line with service needs.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Able to use sewing equipment (eg sewing machine, heat sealing machine and over-locker)
  • Previous professional experience of working in a sewing room environment (eg previous seamstress, experience required)

Desirable

  • Experience in working within a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ in Customer Care Level 2 or completion of an apprenticeship in sewing/garment manufacturing industry or equivalent qualification.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Experience in the use operation of a sewing machines and associated equipment eg over locker heat sealer and undertaking complex and simple sewing tasks.
  • Experience in ordering processes and procedures record keeping and stocktaking
  • General Standard of Education
  • Basic numeracy and clerical skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team

Desirable

  • Completion of Trusts Mandatory Training.
