Job summary
We require a Cook in our Catering Team to prepare & serve patients meals, ensuring this is carried out in accordance with the Food Safety act 1990 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 1995 and any subsequent Food Safety Legislation
Main duties of the job
1.To communicate on a daily basis with patients, nursing staff and colleagues. Contact with nursing staff may be either face to face within the hospital or by the receiving of telephone requests into the department for extra meals or special diets.
2.To receive deliveries on an occasional basis within the catering department.
3.To liaise with Manager and Supervisors daily and act upon any specific tasks required.
4.To allow new starters to shadow various duties in the department such as cooking and food service.
5.To participate in Trust mandatory training or any departmental specific training.
6.To ensure patients receive any special diets requested.
7.The preparation of buffets or hospitality requests.
8.Maintain high standards of food safety in line with Environmental Health and legislative requirements and ensure the departmental Hazard Analysis system is adhered to.
9.Preparation and cooking of the patients meals ensuring all standard recipes and
allergen legislation is adhered to.
