Job summary
We have an excellent
opportunity for a band 5 speech and language therapist looking to develop their
skills and competencies working with adults with acquired communication and
swallowing difficulties. This post has been designed as a progression post with
the provision for the successful candidate to progress to Band 6 when they have
developed the required skills and competencies. It is envisaged that this would
take a minimum of 18 months post qualification. This post would be suitable for
a newly qualified practitioner or an existing band 5 SLT looking to extend
their experience in different clinical areas.
Main duties of the job
Based within the Adult
SLT Team at Warrington Hospital, the post will offer the opportunity to work
both on the Stroke Unit and in the Community. You will have easy access to informal
support from senior colleagues, as well as formal supervision. Your timetable
can be developed as you progress, depending on your areas of interest,
You will have good
knowledge of up to date assessment and treatment procedures for the adult population
and will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in working with adults in the
acute setting.
Excellent
communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are required
You will have
achieved a recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent qualification
and Health Professions Council Licence to Practice.
About us
Our team is
based at Warrington Hospital, a busy teaching hospital that serves a local
population of 333,000 people. The hospital is easily accessible, close to the
Motorway network and well served by public transport networks.
We provide
inpatient and outpatient SLT on the Warrington site as well as a Domiciliary
SLT service to the Warrington population.
The SLT team work
closely together to provide excellent clinical care and to continually develop
our staff. We are a friendly and
supportive team, and in addition to our team meetings and group CPD sessions,
we have regular social events.
